SANTA'S VILLAGE - SCOTTS VALLEY

The world’s first franchised theme park was Santa’s Village in—you guessed it—Scotts Valley, California!

Although it’s been closed for over 40 years, there’s still a large sign for Santas Village Rd along Hwy 17 that reminds us that enchantment used to exist a stone’s throw away. Anyone I talk to about this bygone amusement park speaks of it with a Disneyland-like fondness. To those who experienced Santa’s Village, it was a magical place from a simpler time. (Open from 1957-1979)

With the holidays in full swing, I just had to tell you about this destination spot where Christmas was celebrated 365 days a year.

This Fun Fact is dedicated to theme park enthusiasts and all you folks who grew up going to Santa’s Village. Check out this documentary “Santa’s Village – The Lost Parks of Northern California” by America’s Coaster Enthusiasts.”

The history is fascinating and the pictures and videos will make you smile. And you older folks, you finally have proof that this place existed! Share these photos and videos with your children as you recall your own experiences there.

Although Santa’s Village in Scotts Valley is no more, the other two parks in this franchise are still up and running. Yeah, it’s not the same, but in case you find yourself in Chicago or Lake Arrowhead, California…

May these precious memories and others bring you warmth and comfort at this time of year whether you are with your loved ones or not. Your imagination is an amazing thing!

And may this challenging time fade away soon and be replaced by new and better adventures with those you care about most.

Good Health & Happy Holidays!
